I suffered from secondhand embarrassment more than once after seeing how aggressively Mianmian was chasing after YKS, from getting the volunteer job at his bookstore to confessing to him not once but twice to proposing to take down the wind chime. It definitely made the novel feel more real. I'm not used to reading first person in danmei, so this was a nice change of pace from the stories I usually read. There's a bit of a fantastical twist to the story as well, as Mianmian can see people's emotions as colors and a number above their head, so he knows when people are feeling sad, angry, in love, aroused, etc. Not long after arriving, he quickly falls in love with his older neighbor, Yan Kongshan, a bachelor who moved to the island not too long ago to settle down with his young niece. The MC is Yu Mian, a 18 year old boy coming to live with his grandfather on the chill Green Plum Island. This was a short and cute story written in first person about young love.
